Tänzelfest: Celebrating Our 10 Year Anniversary!
07-07-2025 - 13-07-2025
Lederhosen in July? You bet.
This July, German Gymnasium turns ten—and we’re celebrating the only way we know how: with steins, schnitzels, and a full week of Bavarian flair at our very own Tänzelfest.
From Monday 7th July, our restaurant will get a joyful mid-sommer makeover: think kitschy tablecloths, a blooming floral centrepiece, and our team dressed to impress in lederhosen and dirndl. It’s our playful take on a classic German festival—rooted in tradition, served with a German Gym twist.
What to Expect:
Live Oompah Band: Friday 11th July | 5.30–8.30pm
£5 Pints of Warsteiner Pilsener: Friday 11th – Sunday 13th July
Tänzelfest Specials Menu: Available all month | 1st – 31st July
Tänzelfest Menu Highlights
Celebrate summer with bold Bavarian flavours and lighter seasonal touches:
Sommer Schnitzel: Chicken schnitzel with Caesar salad, anchovies & parmesan
Geräucherte Forelle: Smoked trout with lingonberries, horseradish & mixed leaves
Lammstelze: Braised lamb shank with parsley spätzle & ratatouille
Pull Up a Chair (or a Pint)
Whether it’s lunch, a sweet treat, or a beer on our terrace, Tänzelfest is the perfect excuse to visit. So dust off your finest Bavarian attire, bring your appetite, and help us raise a glass to ten fantastic years of German Gymnasium.
10 Years of German Gymnasium
Housed in a Grade II listed building built by the German Gymnastics Society in 1865, German Gymnasium hosted London’s first indoor Olympic Games in 1866—and again in 1908.
In 2014, Conran and Partners reimagined the space, reopening it in 2015 as the café-restaurant you know today.
Beer Fit for a Festival
This year, we’re teaming up with James Clay and Sons—legendary beer importers since 1978—to bring you an exceptional festival pour.
Our partners:
Warsteiner: A 9th-generation, family-owned brewery whose world-renowned Pilsner is crafted using water from the pristine Kaiserquelle in Germany’s Arnsberg forest.
König Ludwig: Royal brewers and pioneers of the Bavarian Purity Law of 1516, famed for their full-bodied Hefe-Weizen—a golden wheat beer with fruity complexity and regal roots.
